Andy Carroll Completes Surprise Move to Fourth-tier Side

Ex-Newcastle and West Ham Striker Joins Eighth Club

Carroll Signs for National League North Club

Former England international Andy Carroll has completed a surprise move to fourth-tier side Gateshead, the National League North club has announced. The 34-year-old striker joins the eighth club of his career, having previously played for Newcastle United, West Ham United, Liverpool, Burnley, Reading, and most recently, West Bromwich Albion. Carroll, who has 9 caps for England, has been without a club since leaving West Brom at the end of last season. He has now signed a one-year deal with Gateshead, who are managed by former Newcastle defender Mike Williamson. Gateshead are currently 18th in the National League North, having won just one of their opening six games. Carroll will be hoping to help the club improve their form and push for promotion to the National League. Carroll's move to Gateshead is a surprise, given his previous experience at Premier League and Championship level. However, he will be hoping to rediscover his goalscoring form at Gateshead and help the club achieve their goals.
