Residents Flee Flat Block After Suspected Arson Attack
Protests, many involving far-right and anti-immigrant groups, are expected to continue six days on from the Southport stabbings which led to a city-wide manhunt and subsequent arrest of three men.
On Friday, August 20, three men were arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of 19-year-old Yusuf Mohamed, who died in hospital after being attacked in Southport town center.
Since then, there have been a number of protests in the town, with some groups calling for action against immigration and others expressing solidarity with the victim's family.
On Tuesday, August 24, a group of around 50 people gathered outside the town hall to protest against immigration. The protest was organized by the far-right group Britain First.
On Wednesday, August 25, a larger group of around 200 people gathered in the town center to show their support for the victim's family. The protest was organized by a local community group.
The protests are expected to continue in the coming days, with police warning that they will take action against anyone who engages in violence or disorder.
